Auburn 2021 Football Preview

With an appearance in the Citrus Bowl against the Northwestern Huskies coming in a few days, this seems like the perfect time for a way to early preview for next season’s Auburn Football team. With a new coach coming in, and getting to play their biggest rivals at home in Jordan-Hare Stadium, it is bound to be an interesting year for the Tigers.

Auburn has found their man. Brian Harsin, a 44 year old native of Boise, ID. Harsin played for Boise State during his college days. He was the co offensive coordinator and quarterback’s coach at Texas for the 2011 and 2012 seasons. He was the head coach at Arkansas State for the 2013 season. He replaced Auburn’s former head coach Gus Malzhan their. Harsin has been the head coach at his alma mater Boise State since 2014. During his time with the Broncos, he led them to a 69-19 record, three Mountain West Athletic Conference championships, and five bowl appearances. Harsin’s biggest challenge will be recruiting. The transition from being the most dominant school in the region to having to compete with Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Clemson, and so many others will not be easy. But it will have the biggest impact on Auburn’s success under Harsin.

Auburn’s recruiting class for next season is nothing to get to excited about at this point. With the firing of Gus Malzhan, there have been de-commitments, which is to be expected. On the other hand, Auburn will likely pick up new recruits with Harsin being instated. The quarterback battle between rising junior Bo Nix, the Penson, AL native who has two seasons under his belt now, and Dematrious Davis, an incoming freshman from North Shore, TX. Nix will likely be named the starter, but Davis will surely get his oppurtunity.

Auburn’s schedule for next season is about as perfect as you can imagine. With an out of conference road trip to State College, PA to take on Penn State, and getting to play Georgia and Alabama at home, the Tigers have some very exciting matchups for this pivotal season. It will be exciting to see how Auburn does next season. War Eagle!
