The 2020 Legion Goal of the Year has been announced after a fan vote was conducted via Birmingham Legion FC’s website. As if anybody is really surprised at the result, Neco Brett’s stunning volley against Charlotte Independence has claimed the award.

After some impressive dribbling from newcomer Bruno Lapa, a cheeky ball was floated in over the backline for Brett to hammer home past a defenseless keeper, putting the boys in black up 3-0 at that moment in the match and sealing the deal for a Legion away victory on August 29.

In his first year with the squad, Brett bagged nine goals in 16 matches. Birmingham’s #11 joined the club in the preseason and hit the ground running early on. He scored against Atlanta United in his first appearance at BBVA Field, setting the tone for the coming year. Brett also finished the season with three assists, a total tied for third-most on the team, and he racked up the second-most shots (23) and chances created (26) for Legion FC in 2020.

Brett was selected for the Golden Boot award as well and will look to continue his impressive form next season.

Congrats, Neco!
