UAB drops a tough one in Miami

This past Thursday the UAB Blazers faced off against the University of Miami in the Blazers second game of the season. The game was a chance for the team to prove themselves against the big boys and for almost three full quarters the Blazers did just that. UAB even scored first off of a 16 yard touchdown catch from star receiver Austin Watkins. Despite scoring first, UAB’s defensive inconsistencies were shown pretty early on as Miami immediately found success with their ground game. Their ground game would go on to account for 3 touchdowns. UAB would keep the game close throughout the game as deep into the 3rd quarter the scoreline was only 17-14 in favor of Miami. Two quick strikes from Miami would put the nail in the coffin as neither team found the endzone in the 4th as the game finished 31-14 in favor of the Hurricanes. While it was a tough loss for the Blazers they’re still 1-1 and have a very winnable game coming up with a match up against South Alabama on the 24th. Be sure to come back and check out the page for more updates on upcoming UAB games and remember, go blazers.
