Samford Basketball announces schedule change

COVID has found its way to the SoCon, among several other college basketball conferences across the country.

Samford men’s basketball schedule was altered when the Southern Conference announced several changes to league-wide schedules Wednesday afternoon.

Samford’s home contest against Furman, previosuly scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 3, has been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols. Additionally, the team’s game at Mercer, originally scheduled for Jan. 27, has been rescheduled for Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. (CT) from Macon, Ga.

While the Bulldogs currently sit in 9th place, second from the bottom, in the Southern Conference, this was always going to be viewed as a rebuilding year for the squad. With a new coach in Bucky McMillan and several new faces on the squad, fans knew it would take a while for this team to gel.

One can only hope that as the season progresses, the Bulldogs remain competitive and can string together a few wins and possibly even put together a SoCon Tournament run at the end of the 2021 campaign.

The Feb. 6 game at Mercer is Samford’s next scheduled game. The Bulldogs will then host Mercer Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.

Be sure to mask up and get out to support the Dogs!
