Let’s talk some Blazer football

We’ve got to talk about the team in the heart of Birmingham, the UAB Blazer football team. They have been on fire since it’s return in 2017, they have had a winning record each of the last 3 years, with 3 bowl games, in the conference USA championship game twice and won 1 title. Head Coach Bill Clark has done an amazing job at UAB and has gained a lot of attention for his work. The facilities have even seen an upgrade and now a new stadium is being built that they will play in starting 2021.

On the field the UAB defense has been incredible, being one of the nations best scoring defenses in 2018. Yes that’s right, UAB had one of the nations top scoring defenses, and they were breaking all kinds of records. There is just something great about having the Blazers playing football again and being a genuinely good. Seeing them run onto the field with that big dragon logo on the helmet with Bill Clark on his motorcycle, is something special. It’s been an amazing comeback story, I mean not having a program for 2 years and then coming back and having 3 winning seasons, and winning a conference title. There is so much that goes into running a football program, and to be able to comeback that strong is incredible and now the Blazers are ready to have another big year in 2020.

What will the 2020 team look like? No one honestly knows how this season will go for anyone, but the Blazers do have Tyler Johnston returning to the QB spot, Spencer Brown back at RB, and the defense is returning most of it’s top tacklers and have some new talent that will be suiting up. Some say this might be the best team out of the last 3 years, so it’s going be very exciting to see what 2020 has in store for this UAB Blazers team.
