Last week college football got kicked off, and for the Birmingham area that means the UAB Blazers had their first game of the year. The blazers opened up the 2020 season on the 3rd versus Central Arkansas, they came away with a 45 to 35 win. With this win they set a conference record with 19 straight home wins also. The feeling inside legion field was just a feeling of pure excitement and it was the last home opener for the blazers at legion field. Next year they will open up in the brand new Protective stadium. There were areas where the blazers looked strong and then areas where you know they need work, but it was the 1st game of the year and with covid, this offseason has been unlike any other. The issues that were shown can easily be fixed, some turnovers and some defensive miscues. The offense looked pretty good at times and the running game looks to be strong this year, Spencer Brown finished with 127 yards and Jermaine Brown added 75 yards. Next up for UAB is a trip to South Florida where they will play Miami, the blazers are in a great spot to get a W versus the canes. If they can take care of the ball, they have a great chance in this one, this can big a big step for this blazer program. The come back of this program has been talked about a lot, and now its time for the blazers to show the college football world that it truly is back and here to stay. So tune in on the 10th and lets all cheer for the blazers.
