Blazer basketball heating up
1st year blazer head coach Andy Kennedy has got the blazer basketball team off to a great start. They are 7-1 right now and there have been a few games canceled due to covid but they are doing really well and playing some great defense. Ending 2020 the blazers defense ranked high nationally and 1st in the conference. Leading the way in the scoring department for the blazers is graduate transfer Michael Ertel, and on defense junior Trey Jeminson is leading the great blazers defense with 24 blocks and leading the team in rebounds. This team is playing with great energy and the defense is smothering at times. Andy Kennedy played for the blazers in college and for coach Gene Bartow, he has said that he wants to get back to the “Bartow standard”. Which is for anyone coming in the arena to watch them, that they had an expectation of winning , you knew the team was going to be prepared and you knew you were going to be proud of their effort. With no exhibition games or scrimmages versus any other team before the season, the blazers on-court chemistry is developing more and more each game. As with anything lately we don’t know really how this season is going to look. But each time the blazers do step on the court they will be prepared and ready to give full energy.
