Auburn’s Round Rock Classic Recap

The 15th ranked Auburn Tigers traveled out to Texas this past weekend to compete in the Round Rock Classic. The Tigers competed against Oklahoma on Friday, Baylor on Saturday, and Texas A&M on Sunday. They definitely showed some room for improvement this weekend, but they also showed a lot of promise.

The weekend got off to a rough start on Friday, with Auburn falling to the Oklahoma Sooners 4-3 in 10 innings. Despite having an 11 hit day and holding the Sooners scoreless until the 5th inning, Auburn struggled both offensively and defensively late in the game.

Saturday did not go well for Auburn, as they took a 12-6 loss at the hands of the Baylor Bears. It was definently their worst outing of the weekend. The only bright spot was Auburn scoring three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. This shows that the Tigers will fight to the end of every game.

Trace Bright pitching against Texas A&M on Sunday

Auburn’s best game of the weekend was against the Texas A&M Aggies on Sunday, as they closed out the weekend with a 6-1 win. The Tiger’s were led by Trace Bright’s excellent performance on the mound. Bright only allowed three hits and shut the Aggies out through six innings. The bullpen also had a good day, only allowing Texas A&M to score one run in the bottom of the ninth inning. They also did pretty well offensively, recording 12 hits.

Auburn celebrating Sunday’s win over Texas A&M

Auburn showed just how good they can be this weekend. However, they also showed areas that they could improve in. The Tigers host the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on Tuesday, and then the Xavier Muskateers for a four-game series this weekend. This Auburn team is loaded with talent and is capable of competing with the best college baseball has to offer. It will be fun to watch what this Tiger team can accomplish this year. War Eagle!
